Who Am I?
I’m the weird kid who always finished my school work first so I could spent more time staring out the window ‘imagining’ fairies and angels. I was in the creative clique and performed in both high school and college musicals along with writing and editing both the school newspaper and yearbook. I graduated from high school, got a BA in Communications from KentState (yes, that KentState), studied Music in Cleveland, Horticulture in Columbus, and Therapeutic Massage in Boone.
My interests are broad ranging – plants/gardening, writing/reading, walking/hiking/camping, music in every form (I play 4 instuments), baking chocolate chip cookies, and exploring both the physical and spiritual worlds.
After many years as an organic gardener and nature intuitive I ‘got the message’ about 5 years ago to start working with people more closely. It seems that what’s going on with the environment is a direct reflection of what’s going with people. And the environment suffers because of the way people treat themselves and other people.
So, I started by putting together a small monthly ‘newsletter’ called ALIVE. It’s purpose was to highlight the positive things that were going on and to promote the spiritual awareness in the High Country of NC. It went well, got a lot of great feedback, but had trouble with financial backing. And after a year I closed the business.
Then I had the opportunity to go to massage school. I felt that this would give me a ‘license to heal,’ and that I could team massage with some of the other modalities I was using – music, drumming, tuning forks, toning, quantum touch. These work well together. And I found I get great results without using massage at all.
At the same time I found the Shamanic Institute (SI) and learned one of their teachers lives in Maryland. After taking a couple of classes with him I discovered something about myself – I have an incredible ability to ‘journey’ to other worlds and meet guides, power animals, and other beings. I’ve continued my training with SI and incorporate these teachings in my healing practice.
And now I've added Matrix Energetics into the mix, a quantum healing method which lets the body restructure itself. I'm one of only 5 certified practitioners in NC.
I see connections in every philosophy, theology, or dogma there is, and know that, deep down, they’re all joined by one thought – unconditional love.
I love to travel, and plan on spending my 50s and 60s being everywhere (ask me about getting hypothermia in the desert, yes it’s true). I love life, am so glad I’m having this experience on our earthly planet, and plan to live it as fully and passionately as possible.
After spending many years in retail and non profit management I decided to switch to a 'healthier' profession. I graduated at the top of my class from CCC-TI in their Therepeutic Massage Certification Program. I'm also a nationally certified massage therapist, and a NC licensed massage and bodywork therapist (#6773).
I am a professional member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
Besides working out of my own office, I'm also a contract MT with Westglow Spa and Resort in Blowing Rock, NC. I've previously worked at Natural Healing Day Spa in Banner Elk, and Massage Envy and Jewel Day Spa in Greensboro, NC.
Every licensed massage therapist in North Carolina is required to complete at least 25 continuing education credits every 2 years.
I've had additional training in:
Spa wraps and treatments
Cranial-sacral (level 1)
Energy Healing Techniques
Sound & Tuning Fork Therapy
The Spirit of Learning
Medical Massage and Insurance Billing
And of course, Matrix Energetics!
Every session with me is a little different as I customize each session to meet the needs of my clients.
